SELINSGROVE – Earlier this month, a vote to abolish the per capita tax in Selinsgrove passed 4 to 3. However, the Mayor of Selinsgrove, Sean Christine vetoed the legislation. Last night, borough council took a vote to override the Mayor’s veto, but the vote failed due to the absence of Councilman Richard Mease. Councilman Erik Viker has been trying for several years to abolish the tax on those who work in the borough. He says it raises less than $6,000 annually, which is barely one percent of the budget.
